We invite you to San Francisco for a program of great opera. Start the tour with Massenet’s WERTHER, next Mozart’s LE NOZZE DI FIGARO and Verdi’s AIDA – and finish the trip with a concert by the superb San Francisco Symphony.

Wednesday, September 22 - SAN FRANCISCO

Independent arrivals in San Francisco. Accommodations at the recently renovated SIR FRANCIS DRAKE HOTEL on Union Square. Welcome drinks and dinner in the hotel’s
fine restaurant.

This evening: Massenet’s WERTHER (San Francisco Opera/War Memorial Opera House - 7:30 PM). The cast: Ramón Vargas, Alice Coote, Heidi Stober, Brian Mulligan, Christian Van Horn. Emmanuel Villaume conducts. Direction by Francisco Negrin; designs by Louis Désiré; lighting by Duane Schuler.

Thursday, September 23 - SAN FRANCISCO

This morning a SAN FRANCISCO HIGHLIGHTS tour, including the majestic GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE, the “PAINTED LADIES”, colorful, restored Victorian houses, ITALIAN NORTH BEACH, panoramic views from TWIN PEAKS, landmark skyscrapers of the Financial District such as the TRANS-AMERICA PYRAMID and the BANK OF AMERICA BUILDING, bustling FISHERMAN’S WHARF with its steaming fish cauldrons and seafood restaurants overlooking San Francisco Bay. Afternoon at leisure.

This evening: Mozart’s LE NOZZE DI FIGARO (San Francisco Opera/War Memorial Opera House - 7:30 PM). The cast: Luca Pisaroni, Danielle de Niese, Ellie Dehn, Michèle Losier, Lucas Meachem, Catherine Cook, Greg Fedderly, John Del Carlo. Nicola Luisotti conducts. Friday, September 24 - SAN FRANCISCO

Depart for an excursion to NAPA VALLEY, famous for California wine making. Visit MUMM NAPA VALLEY, California's premier sparkling wine facility, including tasting of Mumm Cuvée Napa Sparkling wine. Luncheon at DON GIOVANNI restaurant in Napa. Balance of the afternoon at leisure.

This evening: Verdi’s AIDA (San Francisco Opera/War Memorial Opera House - 8:00 PM). The cast: Micaela Carosi, Dolora Zajick, Marcello Giordani, Marco Vratogna, Hao Jiang Tian, Christian Van Horn. Saturday, September 25 - SAN FRANCISCO

Today is at leisure to explore San Francisco on your own, at your own pace. Farewell dinner at the RITZ-CARLTON HOTEL.

This evening: A concert by the SAN FRANCISCO SYMPHONY (Davies Symphony Hall - 8:00 PM). Michael Tilson Thomas, the Music Director of the San Francisco Symphony, conducts the program: Harrison’s Parade, Copland’s Quiet City, Copland’s Organ Symphony with Paul Jacbos as soloist, and Tchaikovsky’s Fourth Symphony.

Sunday, September 26 - DEPARTURES

Independent departures from San Francisco. Check-out time at the hotel is 12:00 Noon.

The deposit required to hold space on this tour is $1,500.00 per person.


TOUR PRICE INCLUDES:

* 1 lunch, 3 dinners, 1 wine tasting. * Accommodations at the Sir Francis Drake Hotel for 4 nights. * All performance tickets. * All taxes, entrance fees. * All transfers, where necessary. * Wine with the included lunch and dinners. * Gratuities to Dailey-Thorp tour director as well as for all other group services. Tour price is based on sharing a twin/double hotel room.Price does NOT include: * Air fare; items of a personal nature; accident/baggage/cancellation insurance; porterage tips at the hotel upon arrival and departure and tips to the hotel’s chambermaid.

AIR TRANSPORTATION:

Any flights from any airport -- may be arranged with Dailey-Thorp's air agent in New York -- Mr. Christophe Buszkiewicz; Telephone 212-944-2121, ext. 2829 and/or ext. 2217. Having been the manager of Dailey-Thorp's air department for many years in New York, Christophe is familiar with all our tour operations. Or, tour guests may book their flights through their local travel agent or directly with the airlines.

CANCELLATION OF TOUR:

LAND ARRANGEMENTS: For cancellation by the client, these charges will apply: Cancellations received 60 days or more prior to commencement of the tour = $250.00 per person: 59-31 days prior = 50% of land arrangements price; 30 days prior to commencement of the tour through completion of tour =100% of land arrangements price; no appearance/no written notice = 100% of the land arrangements price. No refunds will be made for any part of the tour package purchased by the client, such as sightseeing, meals, performances, transfers, which are voluntarily omitted by any tour member; the tour is sold as a package. We must strictly adhere to our cancellation policy to offset costs incurred prior to the commencement of the tour.

AIR TRANSPORTATION: Cancellation of AIR FLIGHTS will be subject to the cancellation policy of the airline.

TRIP INSURANCE: WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND TRIP CANCELLATION INSURANCE. An application for travel insurance will be included with our acknowledgment of your reservation. We suggest that you apply for it as soon as possible after signing up for a tour. Should it become necessary for you to cancel due to illness (but not business reasons) the policy may cover your losses (subject to insurance terms).

All cancellations must be in writing.
All tour programs are subject to change by the operator.
