We invite you to join us for New Year’s in Vienna! Just imagine settling into your room at the RING HOTEL, well-located right near the Vienna State Opera House, and enjoying the festivities surrounding the New Year's celebration. It’s a great array of events including a dress rehearsal of the famous New Year’s Day Concert by the Vienna Philharmonic, a performance of Strauss’s DIE FLEDERMAUS. An added treat will be Beethoven’s NINTH SYMPHONY in Concert at the Konzerthaus and the Spanish Riding School at the Hofburg. Then there is the option of attending the glittering IMPERIAL BALL on New Year's Eve – a memorable occasion to be enjoyed in style! We hope you will be with us.

Sunday, December 28 - VIENNA

Independent arrivals in Vienna. Transfers will be provided from the airport to the hotel for all tour guests arriving on any flight today. Accommodations at the THE RING HOTEL right near the opera house. Welcome reception at the hotel with a talk by a member of the VIENNA PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA. Dinner in the hotel’s restaurant.

Monday, December 29 - VIENNA

This morning enjoy sightseeing by coach in Vienna to see its fabulous buildings such as the MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS AND NATURAL HISTORY and the POSTAL SAVINGS BANK. Then join our guide for a walking tour to visit one of the Habsburg’s greatest legacies, the SCHATZKAMMER (treasury), containing not only the crown jewels of the emperors, but one of Europe's finest collections of objets d'art, imperial garments and religious items. Afternoon and evening at leisure.

Tuesday, December 30 - VIENNA

This morning: NEW YEAR’S CONCERT PREVIEW with the Vienna Philharmonic at the Musikverein’s “Goldener Saal” conducted by Daniel Barenboim. Lunch at HOTEL SACHER. Afternoon at leisure.

OPTIONAL PERFORMANCE: This evening: Rossini’s IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA (Vienna State Opera). The cast: Francesco Meli, Alfred Sramek, Elina Garanca, Adrian Eröd, Janusz Monarcha; Stefan Soltesz conducting. Price per ticket: $385.00.

Wednesday, December 31 - VIENNA

This morning: SPANISH RIDING SCHOOL GALA -- the famous LIPIZZANER HORSES. The performance takes place in the Hofburg’s splendid 18th century white, crystal-chandeliered hall.

The rest of the day is at leisure until the concert and the Ball this evening.

This evening: BEETHOVEN’S NINTH SYMPHONY (Konzerthaus - 7:00 PM). The Vienna Symphony conducted by Mark Minkowski.

OPTIONAL EVENT: The famous IMPERIAL BALL in the halls of the Hofburg Palace. Celebrate the beginning of the year 2009 in the state apartments of the ancient imperial winter residence. According to the motto of this year “Johann Strauss, the king of waltzes” accompanies you through the evening. Dinner and dancing till 3:30 AM. Price: $1,025.00 per person includes dinner and the ball.

Thursday, January 1 - VIENNA

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Late this morning enjoy New Year’s brunch at the GRAND HOTEL with the New Year’s Concert from the Musikverein being broadcast on large-screen TV. Afternoon at leisure.

This evening: Johann Strauss’s DIE FLEDERMAUS (Vienna State Opera). The cast: Alexandra Reinprecht, Michaela Selinger, Teodora Gheorghiu, Bo Skovhus, Markus Eiche; Bertrand de Billy conducting.

Friday, January 2 - DEPARTURE

Independent departures. Private transfer to Vienna's International Airport for flight departures.

Please note that the New Year’s Concert Preview and the Imperial Ball both require reservations and full payment by the end of August 2008 – at which time payment must be made in full. After that date, reservations for the concert and the ball will be upon request and subject to availability.


LAND ARRANGEMENTS PRICE INCLUDES:

* Breakfast daily, 1 brunch, 1 lunch, 1 dinner. * Accommodations at the Ring Hotel for 5 nights. * All performance tickets except the optional Il Barbiere di Siviglia on December 30. * All taxes, entrance fees. * All transfers where necessary. * Wine with the included brunch, lunch and dinner. * Gratuity to the Dailey-Thorp tour director as well as for all other group services. Land arrangements price is based on sharing a twin/double hotel room. Land Arrangements Price does NOT include: Air fares; items of a personal nature; accident/baggage/cancellation insurance.

AIR TRANSPORTATION:

Any flights from any airport -- may be arranged with Dailey-Thorp's air agent in New York -- Mr. Christophe Buszkiewicz; Telephone 212-944-2121, ext. 2829. Having been the manager of Dailey-Thorp's air department for many years in New York, Christophe is familiar with all our tour operations. Or, tour guests may book their flights through their local travel agent or directly with the airlines.

CANCELLATION OF TOUR:

LAND ARRANGEMENTS: For cancellation by the client, these charges will apply: Cancellations received 60 days or more prior to tour commencement = $250.00 per person; 59-31 days prior = 50% of land arrangements price; less than 31 days prior =100% of land arrangements price; no appearance/no written notice = 100% of the land arrangements price. No refunds will be made for any part of the tour package, such as sightseeing, meals, performances or transfers, which are voluntarily omitted by any tour member; the tour is sold as a package. We must strictly adhere to our cancellation policy to offset costs incurred prior to the commencement of the tour.

AIR TRANSPORTATION: Cancellation of AIR FLIGHTS will be subject to the cancellation policy of the airline.

TRIP INSURANCE: WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND TRIP CANCELLATION INSURANCE. An application for travel insurance will be included with our acknowledgment of your reservation. We suggest that you apply for it as soon as possible after signing up for a tour. Should it become necessary for you to cancel due to illness (but not business reasons) the policy may cover your losses (subject to insurance terms).

All cancellations must be in writing.
All tour programs are subject to change by the operator.
